A   Musical Career Timeline

Al "Chance" Cella started singing at age 14, "cutting his vocal teeth" on 60's British Invasion Rock & Roll in various local rock bands in the Brooklyn, NY area. Some of his locally well known bands were:  “Earth” – “Organization”  -  “Eruption” and "The Corporate Image."

By age 19, he had the co-lead role of "Judas" in a N.Y.C. local  "off-off" Broadway production of Jesus Christ Superstar that toured throughout the Brooklyn Catholic diocese. He was a local well known Lead Singer of various rock groups in the 60s, musical groups in dance clubs of the 70s and wedding band orchestras of the 80s in the New York City and Long Island area. Some of the venues he has performed at were  Leonard's, The Huntington Town House, Grossinger's Hotel, Hullabaloo Clubs, The Cheetah Club,  and Café Wha?


As a resident New Jerseyan, he made appearances at  Lead East- World's Largest 50s Party  and the United In Group Harmony Association shows at the now defunct Whiskey Cafe of Lyndhurst, NJ as both a lead and background singer. He was a member of acapella doo-wop group "Memories Of You" and Doo Wop Band "The Cameos" and Philadephia sound vocal project "2 Smooth."

He also specializes in Italian-American favorites, having performed at the Mercer County and North Brunswick Italian-American festivals, and various clubs and restaurants in the Middlesex County, N.J.  area. In addition, he is the one-man vocal center of his own the Internet based recording group "Chance and the Phantasmics"  wherein he musically arranges well known hits of yesteryear by overdubing all the vocal parts from a faux Bass to Falsetto into melifluous textures.


In 2007 and 2013, after submitting recordings to the Producers of the TV Show - America's Got Talent, he was selected for a live audition in Miami that he participated in.  


Al is most recently from Las Cruces, NM, where he won a GOLD & BRONZE Medal

in a Senior Olympics Solo Vocal competition.

He was born in South Brooklyn, raised in Sunset Park, and lived in East Flatbush, Grave's End, Bensonhurst and Sheepshead Bay.  

His nickname  “chance” was given to him in his old Sunset Park, Brooklyn neighborhood for running about selling raffle book “chances” for his local church, and later Boxing as “Kid Chance” for the local Police Athletic League he was affiliated with as a youngster.
